Finally Bloom 2009 is over and Daithi is able to concentrate on working on the house once more. I have to say he was truly wonderful to help out so much with Rosa. He seemed to spend forever in Dublin helping to build the garden in his spare time. But it was worth it. The garden, "The Seven Woods" was fantastic and well deserving of a silver medal. I think a silver gilt medal would have been more appropriate though. The inspiration came from the poem "The Seven Woods" by W. B. Yeats and it certainly had a woodland feel to it with beautiful foxgloves and ferns.
We took the boys up to Phoenix park for the event over the June bank holiday weekend. I don't think it was worth 25euro to get in (luckily we had free tickets and the kids got in free too). The weather was stunning (as it has been all week) and certainly helped to bring out the crowds. The boys had a great time - not so much looking at the gardens but playing in the playground and participating in the events in the Imaginosity section. Rosa had a great response from the public and is proud of the garden as she should be. It is a shame that a week after the show has finished, the garden has been dismantled and is no more. It would have been lovely to see it go into a hospital courtyard for which it was intended.
Now we can concentrate on working on the house again. Tomorrow an excavator is arriving at 8.30am. Hopefully we will be ready for rendering outside by the end of the weekend, although Daithi needs to get the soffat sorted out for the roof. It will be nice to get things going again after such a lull. Cian will be here too and he is great at motivating Daithi to keep going.
